How to Use Yugo Red Light Therapy
How to Use Yugo Red Light Therapy
Let’s get you and your pet ready for your first session.
Follow the steps below to operate your Yugo, select the appropriate settings, and establish a consistent treatment routine.
Your device combines 650 nm red light and 808 nm near-infrared light, with four power levels and 10- or 15-minute timer settings.
Before Your First Session.
Choose a quiet, dry space where your pet can rest comfortably and you can supervise the entire session.
Review the safety information below and find the recommended power level, treatment time, and frequency in our Treatment Settings & Schedule chart. Have your Yugo and the included eye protection ready before helping your pet settle.
We recommend using the included eye protection during treatment. Never look directly into the treatment head or point it toward anyone’s eyes. Do not treat on or near your pet’s eyes.
Do not use Yugo on pregnant animals, animals with cancer or tumors—including benign tumors—or animals with hemorrhagic conditions.
How to Use Your Yugo.
Help your pet settle
Choose a comfortable position that gives you easy access to the treatment area.
Let your pet become familiar with the device while it is switched off. Keep the experience calm, and stop if your pet becomes distressed.

Switch on your Yugo
Keep the treatment head pointed away from faces.
Press and hold On/Off until you hear the startup chime.
Select the power level
Press Power to select the appropriate setting from the treatment chart below.
The bars on the display indicate the selected level. Four bars mean Level 4, the highest setting.
Follow the setting for the treatment purpose. Some applications use Level 2 rather than Level 4.
Set the treatment time
Press Time to choose 10 or 15 minutes, following the treatment chart or your veterinarian’s instructions.
Treatment time is per location—not for the whole body.
If you are treating multiple locations, confirm the size of each treatment area and the total treatment plan with your veterinarian.
View Treatment Settings & Schedule ↓Position the treatment head
Gently part the fur to access the treatment area. For direct-contact treatment, rest the treatment head lightly against the skin without pressing firmly.
For dark fur that has not been clipped, hold the treatment head approximately 2–3 cm above the fur rather than pressing it into the coat. Keep the treatment head moving slowly throughout the session.

Start and supervise the session
With the treatment head correctly positioned, briefly press On/Off to activate treatment.
Keep the light directed toward the intended area and follow the application technique specified for your pet’s treatment plan. Stay with your pet throughout the session.
The laser switches off automatically when the timer ends. To stop earlier, press and hold On/Off.
Stop immediately if your pet becomes distressed, shows discomfort, repeatedly pulls away, or the treatment area becomes hot.
Afterward, record the location treated, power level, and session length to help keep your routine consistent.
Treatment Settings & Schedule.
Choose the appropriate settings
Use our reference chart below to find the power level, session length, and frequency for the relevant treatment purpose.
All times are per treatment location. Frequency applies on treatment days, excluding the rest week.
Higher power is not appropriate for every application. Use the setting for the relevant treatment purpose rather than automatically selecting Level 4.
For a diagnosed condition, confirm the treatment plan with your veterinarian. For dental conditions, ear infections, wounds, and spinal injuries, have them demonstrate the correct treatment location and technique. Do not improvise treatment inside the mouth or ear canal, or directly on an open wound.
Follow the five-week treatment cycle
We recommend an initial cycle of four treatment weeks spread across five calendar weeks, with a one-week break after the first 14 days.

Pause Yugo sessions. Continue other prescribed care unless your veterinarian advises otherwise.
Review your pet’s progress with your veterinarian and confirm the next treatment and rest periods before repeating the cycle.
Do not add extra sessions to make up for a missed treatment or increase treatment time to try to speed up results.
Coat & Positioning Guidance.
Light or thinner fur
Gently part the coat to improve access to the treatment area. For direct-contact treatment, rest the treatment head lightly against the skin without pressing firmly.
Thick fur
A dense coat can reduce the amount of light reaching the skin. Gently part the fur to improve access to the treatment area.
When thick fur prevents proper skin contact, we recommend clipping or shaving the treatment area so more light can reach the skin. This preparation is also used in veterinary laser therapy for the same reason: to reduce interference from fur and improve light delivery to the treatment area.
If you leave the coat intact, follow the recommended treatment schedule unless your veterinarian provides a specific adjustment. Do not automatically add extra minutes to compensate for fur.
Monitor your pet’s comfort throughout the session, and stop if the treatment area becomes hot or your pet shows discomfort.
Dark fur
Dark fur can absorb light and become warm during treatment.
For dark fur that has not been clipped, hold the treatment head approximately 2–3 cm above the fur rather than pressing it into the coat. Keep the treatment head moving slowly throughout the session.
Do not automatically extend the treatment time to compensate for dark fur or hovering unless your veterinarian has provided a specific adjustment.
If the fur or treatment area becomes noticeably hot, or your pet shows discomfort or repeatedly pulls away, switch off the device and stop the session.
Do I have to shave my pet?
Clipping is not necessary for every coat. We recommend it when fur prevents proper access to the treatment area.
Clipping or shaving is also used in veterinary laser therapy to help light reach the skin more effectively. Whether it is needed depends on the coat, treatment area, and equipment.
If you prefer to leave the coat intact, follow a treatment plan that accounts for it rather than adjusting the time yourself.
Important Safety Information.
We recommend using the included eye protection. Avoid direct eye exposure to the laser. Do not use the device on or near your pet’s eyes.
Do not use over the thyroid at the front of the throat or on or near inflamed lymph nodes.
Do not use on pregnant animals, animals with cancer or tumors—including benign tumors—or animals with hemorrhagic conditions.
Use the reference chart to select the appropriate power level, treatment time, and frequency.
Watch your pet throughout treatment. Stop immediately if your pet becomes distressed, shows discomfort, repeatedly pulls away, or the treatment area becomes hot.
Keep it away from children. Do not use near water or in high ambient temperatures. Handle gently and avoid dropping it or applying excessive pressure.
Yugo does not replace antibiotics and should be used alongside prescribed antibiotics when applicable.
Let your veterinarian know about your pet’s laser treatments so they can help guide their care.
Frequently Asked Questions.
Is treatment time per location or for the whole body?
Per location. The 10- or 15-minute setting applies to the area being treated.
For multiple locations, confirm the total treatment plan with your veterinarian rather than dividing or multiplying the time yourself.
Should I always use the highest power setting?
No. Follow the treatment chart or your veterinarian’s instructions.
Several joint and injury applications use Level 4, while dental disease, skin/ear infections, and wounds are listed at Level 2.
Should I use longer sessions if my pet has thick fur?
Do not automatically extend the session.
First, gently part the fur to improve access to the treatment area. When a dense coat prevents proper skin contact, we recommend clipping or shaving. This preparation is also used in veterinary laser therapy to reduce interference from fur and improve light delivery.
Any change in session length should be specific to your pet’s treatment plan.
Why do some lights appear to be off?
Yugo uses visible red light and near-infrared light. Near-infrared light is invisible to the human eye, so not every emitter will appear to glow.
Do not look into the treatment head to check it. If you suspect a fault, switch off the device and contact us.
Does Yugo include eye protection?
Yes. Eye protection is included, and we recommend using it during treatment.
Even when wearing protection, keep the treatment head directed away from eyes and follow the safety instructions.
What should I do if my pet becomes uncomfortable?
Stop the session immediately.
Check that you selected the appropriate settings. Speak with your veterinarian if your pet has pain, skin irritation, or worsening symptoms.
Do not continue treating an area that feels hot.
How do I charge my Yugo?
Use the supplied charging accessories. Your Yugo beeps when the battery is low, and a full charge takes approximately 10–12 hours.
If it continues beeping after charging or will not switch on, contact us for help.
How soon should I expect results?
Response varies by pet, condition, and treatment plan. Improvement is not guaranteed.
Keep a record of changes in everyday comfort and movement, and review progress with your veterinarian. If symptoms worsen, seek advice rather than waiting until the treatment cycle ends.
Can I use Yugo alongside medication?
Yugo can be used alongside prescribed care when appropriate. Do not stop or change your pet’s medication because you are using the device. Your veterinarian can advise you on how Yugo fits into your pet’s existing care plan.
Laser therapy does not replace prescribed antibiotics.
Can I use the same Yugo for more than one pet?
Each pet needs an appropriate treatment plan, and the safety precautions apply to every pet.
